Pros: Easy Class
Interesting Information
Cons: Might be too graphic for some people (videos about serial killers, prison riots, school shootings, etc.)
I took a Forensic Psych class with Dr. Brewer last summer, and overall I really enjoyed the class. Dr. Brewer is very knowledgeable on the topic as he has worked in prison settings with criminals for most of his career. He is a pretty cool guy too - lots of little jokes and he let us come in late in the mornings, take long lunches, and get out early every day (the class was scheduled to be 8-5 Sat/Sun). We spent most of the class time watching videos or listening to guest speakers -- the topics covered ranged from serial killers and psychopaths to necrophilia and cross-dressing. Most of it was pretty interesting, but it did get a little graphic at times. The only requirements for the course were a 5 question quiz daily (very easy) and couple of short reflection papers for homework. The only way to fail this class is to not show up -- overall, highly recommend.

Forensic Psychology is a very interesting class. When I took the course it was for two weekends, eight hours a day. The time went by fast and it didn't seem like I had been sitting there for eight hours. The videos that Dr. Brewer shows really helps to apply the information. Basically the only thing that the class requires is that you show up. If you do that you are almost guaranteed and A.

forensic psycholog was so interesting. the discussions are informative and the videos are really interesting to watch. he tries to answer all questions and make sure people who are interested in forensic psychology know what they are getting into. he also gives a lot of personal experience from when he worked in the juvenile detention center and a maximum security prison. fun to listen to.

I took the Forensic Psychology course over the summer and it was a breeze. While it was interesting and Brewer has some great perspectives, he tended to rely on videos and films a little too much. I wonder if I had stayed home and watched A&E and Court TV, would that have been about the same. Still, he makes strong use of the clips and uses them to talk about areas where he isn't an expert. Overall, this was a good course and probably should be a regular fixture here at CSU.

Social work with Adult offenders at times could be interesting. This was an easy A if you go to class and listen to the lectures and movies.
